But what’s life without playing? Estonia is getting ready to build a gaming industry of their own and they don’t take half-measures.
The number of game development businesses in Estonia has increased from 15 to way over 80 companies from 2013 to 2018 alone. Tallinn, the capital, launched the GameDev Days, an international conference. Since its first happening in 2015, the number of attendees more than doubled from 300 to over 650 in 2018.
An industry needs talent and thus, Tallinn University, the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences and the Estonian Business School have all started to offer programmes or modules that are directly related to the games industry. Additionally, new policies like the e-residency programme and the startup visa, have helped make Estonia become more attractive for entrepreneurs from abroad.
