Together with a small delegation of five companies we recently visited Develop:Brighton, one of Europe’s longest-standing games conferences, held in the beautiful beach town of Brighton, in the UK.
The event featured a whooping 950 companies on site and online in the matchmaking system. And it stayed true to ist promise. “bringing the entire game-making industry together – from global superstars to micro indies.” The conference saw over 100 sessions on various tracks from business to creation to diversity and sustainability efforts. Larges studios and indies were showcasing games in a dedicated expo area. Evenings were filled with networking gatherings and an award show as well as unique approaches like a business poker tournament and a fundraising gala.
Our verdict is that this event is a maginficent entry point for tapping into the UK games industry and we were highly impressed by the quality of contacts and companies an we were able to build many great initial contacts to broaden our efforts in connecting Berlin with the region.
Last, but not least, the venue is set right on the seaside promenade with various hotel options within five minutes walking distance and the weather invited for sunny evenings on the beach.
Our plan is to return to Develop:Brighton and introduce many more companies to this fantastic event. Mark your calendards: Next Develop will be: 11 – 13 July 2023 at the Hilton Brighton Metropole
